Pepper spray is a good choice for self-defense. Pretty much all law enforcement agencies use it. It is non-lethal and especially effective when sprayed in the eyes. It does not fatally harm the attacker, but it will create an effective advantage to the person using the spray.

Because pepper spray does not cause death to the attacker, most people find it easier to use than a gun. It is important to be able to act quickly. Pepper spray is popular because it is relatively inexpensive, can be placed on your key chain and there are not really any laws restricting you from using it on an attacker.

Despite this, it is important to be aware of its limitations. You should not rely solely on pepper spray as your only form of defense. From the time you spray pepper spray, it could take a few moments to kick in. An attacker may be able to take the canister away from you. There is the potential that it could be used against you. If wind and rain is blowing, there is a chance that some of it could be blown back on to you.

Pepper spray can be purchased for a fairly cheap price. These sprays usually come in fairly small canisters that are easy to put into your pocket or even on a key chain. They can be purchased for as little as $20 at most stores or even online.
