Even the most expensive security systems are worthless if the home
security alarm does not do the job it needs to do. When considering
buying an alarm, it is important for purchasers to understand what the
make-up of the alarm is and how it operates.
• Loud is good – One of the problems
that some who are having an alarm system installed in their home have
is that they feel the alarm will be too loud. It is a fact that there
are sometimes false alarms that are loud and can be a nuisance for
residents of the home as well as neighbors.
On the other hand, it is also true that somebody who is breaking
into a home who hears an alarm going off is not going to want to stick
around and wait for somebody to come stop the burglary. A loud alarm
means not only will the intruder hear it, but so will neighbors. And
as neighbors hear this alarm, they are bound to call authorities and
look to see what is going on, if only to stop the noise.
Many of these alarms are made to be louder than one might think they
would be. The home security alarm that is loudest usually rings in
somewhere between 100-120 decibels. This is about the same range of
sound that a police or ambulance siren would make.
• Alarms are needed – Even if a home
security system is monitored by a monitoring company, the effectiveness
of the alarm should not be diminished. In those cases when a thief
cuts the wire to the phone cords, the professional monitoring service
usually does not work.
This means that the alarm is the only thing protecting the home from
potential intruders.
• Remote access – If an intruder is
somehow able to get past your system and you are at home, there is
one other alarm that will allow you to alert neighbors and authorities.
Much like some have remote access to their cars, the remote access
can also be hooked up to home security systems as well. And just as
those who have car remote access have an alarm button to push, those
with remote access to their homes alarm systems have the same.
This means that a person could sneak past a security system, but
if the homeowner has their remote next to them, they can still manually
set off the alarm and alert the neighbors, authorities and the monitoring
company.
The home security alarm can also be used in a different manner. Those
who would like to keep track of every time a door opens or closes can
simply set the alarm to beep each time a door is used. Parents with
small children they need to keep an eye on often find this feature helpful.
