Take intelligent home climate control to new heights with the Deluxe RS-485 Thermostat. This unit offers all the benefits found on other RS-485 thermostats — including a dedicated signal path for incredible reliability — but this model adds a unique ability to display text messages from a central controller!

Exclusive Message Display Feature
This exclusive feature allows you to retrieve text messages sent from the serial network to the thermostat. The message screen features navigation buttons to read new and old messages and delete them. Up to 16 date/time-stamped messages (80 characters max.) can be stored in the thermostat. If more than 16 messages are received, the oldest is erased to make room for the newest message. New messages will turn on and flash the Message LED and Mail Icon in the main thermostat screen.

Easy Navigation Through System Menus
All six buttons on the Wall Display Unit are “Soft Keys”, meaning that they change functions when you change screens. The function of the buttons is defined by “on-screen labels” that are dynamic and change when you change screens. This makes an intuitive and easy to use “user interface”. You move to other screens by pressing the Menu button from the main thermostat screen. A new Main Menu “screen” will be displayed with a list of menu functions. When a menu item is selected, a new “screen” will be displayed for that function.

The Ultimate in Signal Reliability
This high-performance thermostat receives signals using RS-485 protocols — the ultimate in signal strength and reliability! These signals are not only stronger than X10 signals, they also travel further along common Cat. 5 cable (up to 4,000 ft.). And since they run on a dedicated path, you won't have to worry about lost signals or the remote possibility of a stray signal from your neighbor's house affecting your home temperature. Nor will you have to deal with the additional expense of integrating amplifiers, couplers and repeaters into your system.

Complete Local and Remote Control
The thermostat consists of two components: the controller that mounts near the air handling equipment and the wall-mounted display unit, allowing you to control temperature via several easy-to-use methods. To make changes locally, simply push the buttons on the wall-mounted unit's thermostat-like user interface. For remote or automated control via RS-485 remote interfaces, simply make the adjustments from your RS-485 home control system, like CommStar Network Controllers, the Stargate or the TimeCommander Plus.

Works With Most HVAC Systems
This thermostat controls all standard functions of gas/electric or heatpump HVAC systems, including heating (two-stage heating on heatpump systems), cooling and fan control. It connects to HVAC systems via standard thermostat connections, and connects to the wall-display unit via a 4-wire connection (2 power, 2 data). The controller also offers fuse-protected relay outputs to the mechanical system, responds to polling requests by sending current temperature, setpoint, mode and fan status.

The controller unit measures 6" x 4" x 2". The wall-display unit measures 5.75" x 3.5" x 1". Temperature range is 0 to 160F. The controller requires 12VDC (24VAC is required for vent damper). Power supply included.

Optional Accessories
This thermostat supports up to three remote sensors. They feature "auto-detect" of any remote sensors that are connected and automatically configures the control unit to use them. The remote sensors have address switches that allow them to be configured as (1) remote only, (2) remote averaged with internal sensor, (3) remote 2 averaged with remote 3, or (4) outside temp sensor. Remote sensor options include:

Wall Mount Remote Temp. Sensor (#3046C) — This optional Wall Mount Remote Temperature Sensor replaces the internal temperature sensor in the Wall Display Unit with an external sensor. This allows you to control and monitor temperatures in locations away from the display unit. Also, if the present location of your thermostat does not accurately sense the home's average temperature, you can place this unit in the optimum location.

Weatherproof Remote Temp. Sensor (#3036D) — The optional Weatherproof Remote Temperature Sensor will connect in place of the Wall Display Unit included in the kit. This product is ideal if you need the heating and air conditioning system to be based on outdoor temperatures. This sensor reports the current conditions directly to the Control Unit. It has as an accuracy of +/- 1F and a range of 0 to 127F.

Pool/Spa Remote Temperature Sensor (#3036F) — With the optional remote sensor (#3046C) and a pool/spa sensor (#3036F), you can even monitor and control your pool or spa temperature via X10. This 6 ft. long 1/2" diameter unit is installed in-line with the pool or spa water circulation plumbing. In most installations this will require fitting a T-junction in the plumbing. The sensor connects to the Wall Display Unit.
