Today’s burglar alarms are usually electronic. They use sophisticated sensors to pick up whether a door or window is opening. They can also use motion detector systems to detect whether an unwanted intruder is on your property.

There are many types of burglar alarms. You can purchase an ultrasonic detector, a microwave detector, a glass beam detector, or a system that uses vibration or inertia sensors. Each of these alarms utilizes sophisticated technology and you should discuss your needs with your salesperson to get the right system.

Some critics of burglar alarms say that system reliability is a problem and false alarms cause your neighbors to become inured to noise. The most important feature of a burglar alarm, however, is that it provides peace of mind for protecting the valuables of your home. Still, if there is a false alarm due to a system malfunction that should be immediately fixed so that the reliability of the system is not in question.
