Orlando Home Security

Orlando is the fifth largest city in Florida and the 82nd largest city in the United States. Its population of 230,519 is made up of residents of diverse ages and backgrounds.  Home of the famous Disneyworld resort, Orlando is an attractive vacation spot for tourists. Unfortunately, due to its size and attraction, it has not been able to avoid high crime rates.
According to the FBI's 2008 Uniform Crime Reports, the city of Orlando experienced an instance of property crime about once every 27 minutes. This type of crime makes up more than half of the city’s crime — followed in number by larceny and burglary.  These statistics do not include home invasions resulting in assault, rape, murder or arson.

Preventing crime is a joint responsibility between residents and law enforcement.  The Orlando Police Department sponsors a Neighborhood Watch Unit, empowering residents to keep their neighborhoods safe.  The department also hosts several events throughout the year intended to increase awareness of Orlando home security and educate the community on crime prevention.

The Orlando area poses significant risks for non-violent and property crimes and home security must be a priority for every homeowner.
